Chestnut Street

A snowy evening. Looking up Chestnut. Our sodium street lamps. dreamt and quiet. Where the real walls of the city show their twist and turn. A perplexing part of the city that is East Chestnut St. What’s supposed to be a main commercial corridor dotted by failed storefronts and collapsed Disney extravaganzas. The bewildering walk past pawn shop parking garages. You’d think this stretch would be commercially viable. Maybe the landlord’s paycheck thinks too highly of it. Or some bogus arena was going to solve it. There’s plenty of potential there (ancient Philadelphian proverb). Personally I think there should be Old Nelsons (or 3Js) as far as the eye can see.
